- I was a perfectly content single woman who was quite happy with my childless life until a teen, whom I had been mentoring, asked to come live with me because I was the closest thing to family that he had. That started my travels into and through the somewhat surreal world of the child welfare system specifically with regards to fostering older teens. I am currently Geppeto to two boys, 16 and 19.
